Bottom left card is Rebelion - it forces a player to lose few cards from his hand. Bottm right card if Overboard - it forces a player to remove a hero card from his drakkar (a player can have only three heroes on his drakkar at the same time, including Than"s daughter).

In reality of middle ages most women and almost all women of high position had arranged weddings. And having a chance to marry jarl or other high positioned person was often a chance for getting better life. Most of women had not so much luck. In Vikings players are jarls who take thanes daughter to his clan as a assurance of his position over thane community. Practice normal in middle ages. Why such a girl should be afraid of that ? As I said often it was only chance for her to win a better life. And why jarl would make her life bad ? If she was abused community could break and go for help to one of his adversaries.
That is why the girsl are depicted not afraid but looking forward for her fate with hope.
I understand that this thematic choice may be not for everyone but I think the same goes with mechanics and with other aspects of the game.
The same for me. There are games I would never buy because of theme, sometimes because it does not interest me, sometimes because I just would not like to play as a fictional character or clan, nation, whatever in a game.
I think it is natural.
