In the past, we brought games to Kickstarter early in the process, after initial design but before development. We tend to be perfectionists about our games, and do significant additional design based on our development work. This often delayed delivery, but made the final products better. However, when this was combined with the production issues we experienced during COVID-19, it created delays that were unacceptably long. Now those projects are all either scheduled for printing, printing currently, or finished printing and about to be shipped. We want to thank our backers for their incredible patience during this process. Going forward, we have made some big changes to our processes. The biggest change is that we plan to run our crowdfunding campaigns after the design and development for a new game is completed. This will reduce the risk of large delays from our side. We have also added Derek Funkhouser to our team as Director of Game Development. Derek is an experienced game designer, developer, and project manager. While Rob will still be very involved with our Kickstarters, Derek will be taking the lead on comments and updates for our Kickstarters going forward. We really appreciate all of the feedback and support across our campaigns, and we cannot wait to get our new games out to you.
Star Realms: Rise of Empire Launches July 19!
For several years, we have been working on our most exciting Star Realms set ever. The game design and development is complete, and the files are nearing print readiness. Star Realms: Rise of Empire coming to Kickstarter this month!
In “Rise of Empire”, two players will wage war as either the industrious Trade Federation or seceding Star Empire in the game’s first ever Legacy style campaign, spanning 12 unique missions. Fight for the future of the galaxy by recruiting forces from three BRAND NEW factions: the militaristic Kingdom, the wealthy Consortium and the fierce Scavengers.
Consolidate your influence in the galaxy by adding your faction sticker on new purchases. The change will add new abilities and affect the card permanently for the entire campaign.
