Welcome! Thanks for checking our project. We have been working in this game for almost 3 years. Originally it was called Microkart and played differently (but still with dexterity power-ups) to honor a videogame we all love. And over the years it has only improved to become a truly unique game Dodos Riding Dinos!
Designed by Rubén Hernández, this game was voted by the public as best game of the show in Roll a Game Expo 2019!
We ship the Stonemaier way with different fulfillment hubs around the world so most of our backers don't pay customs bills (scroll down to the Shipping section below to read more details).
The game will be available in English and in Spanish (you will be able to select your language version after the campaign ends through Backerkit). Depending on the amount of backers (or localization deals during Kickstarter) and translation volunteers, we might be able to consider more languages.
Consider backing at least with $1 to raise the backer-count of your language. Choose "No Reward"; you will be able to upgrade in the pledge manager or during the Kickstarter once we officially announce another language version!
All language versions will ship at the same time.
The miniatures were skilfully crafted by Heriberto Valle (popular sculptor for multiple Kickstarter family games). We are working with the same manufacturer as War for Chicken Island and we are sure the transition from files to plastic will be outstanding!
We have an epic crossover for all backers in this campaign. Kuxcoatl by artist Tom Babbey from Dragons of the Red Moon has been recreated in the style of Dodos Riding Dinos. This miniature will be slightly larger than the rest of the dinos.

After the campaign ends you will find some bundles for Seat Wars and Cooks & Crooks with an extra discount!
Add-ons are optional buys that you will be able to include after the campaign ends. You can add the funds now or wait until later. You don't have to tell us which items you are pledging for, all of this will be easily selected by you after the campaign ends and the pledge manager opens!
We want to increase the value in the game you will receive and to be able to create the game just as we pictured it. Tooling molds for miniatures are expensive but with your support we will be able to include more minis, enhance the quality of components and include more of them to add re-playability.
- New movement cards offer re-playability and choices for players (plus funny art!)
- Dino Meeples are great to swap your minis when using powers so your miniatures are not damaged! And who doesn't like custom dinosaur meeples?!
- We know you want more miniatures because we also want more miniatures!
- Player Powers make players take different choices based on the interaction with the effects on movement cards. Plus you will get to see the art in poker-sized (standard) cards with increased quality (Ivorycore).
- The feel of rolling oversized dice is very powerful. And matching symbols with the cards iconography!
- Double-sided board offer new interactions with the lava road!

War for Chicken Island and Dodos Riding Dinos are part of the same universe. The miniatures have been made at the same scale and base diameter so they are compatible in the future. Some other components such as the island boards where the games are played are also compatible with the same grid and hex size.
Once we release the 3rd standalone game from Draco Studios' Creature Kingdoms universe, you will be able to merge some components and play a hectic conquest game experience. We also have plans for a light-hearted RPG with these goofy miniatures.
Fun fact: During an art livestream in the War for Chicken Island Kickstarter campaign, a backer from the chicken army asked Draco Studios to create an expansion where the chicken could ride dinosaurs, and so, this game was re-skinned.
We know these are trying times and we are all in this together. Hobby stores are being impacted the most within the tabletop industry by the current global situation. We know because our board game cafe in Guadalajara is no exception. Because of that, we have created an affiliate program with fellow retailers. But just as usual and in case you are foreseeing being able to operate normally once this situation gets normalized, we are happy to offer a good deal to all brick and mortar retailers / board game cafes. As retailers ourselves too, the method we prefer is having a deposit made during the Kickstarter, placing the full order on the pledge manager with and pay for the games and shipping fees just before fulfillment begins.
First of all, the 1st print for this game will only be available through Kickstarter so your store will have an exclusive game. To help you sell the games, we will send you a Demo Copy so you can show and play the game with customers.
Cartons come in multiples of 5 games. The 50% discount is given against MSRP.

Based on the experience shared by our chosen publisher, Draco Studios, we are already working on the prepress files to begin manufacturing as the campaign ends. If for any reason mass manufacture is delayed, we will include 1 new card to the game. But with our combined experiences between Cooks & Crooks, Seat Wars, and War for Chicken Island we feel confident of delivering this game 10 months after the campaign ends (actually, earlier but some buffer time doesn't hurt just in case).
We will be working with Backerkit to manage your pledge orders and make sure we get everything right to send you your rewards!
After the campaign ends you will receive an email with a link to your personal survey where you will answer some questions to let us know where to ship your rewards, what optional buys you wish to include to your order, and pay for shipping fees based on weight.
We understand each backer has different preferences, while it is best for creators to charge shipping fees after the campaign ends (as we intend to do for this project), you might prefer to pay for shipping at once during Kickstarter and have only 1 charge. If this is your case, please manage your pledge and modify the amount by adding the listed maximum shipping fee of your country/region plus 10% to cover Kickstarter fees and bank fees. (That is $1 dollar extra for each $10 USD or fraction listed).
In order to ensure the quality of components and guarantee beautiful printed miniatures the manufacturer will be Panda Game Manufacturing, one of the leaders manufacturers in the industry. Same manufacturer as War for Chicken Island.
