1. Gossip lasts for one round and can be confirmed at any point during the round it is played in.

2. Gossip needs to be confirmed by another player using either the same gossip card or a “True” gossip card.

3. If Gossip is confirmed, the Gossip card’s action is immediately taken by the player it has been played on.

4. Confirmed gossip takes precdent over a player’s actions during their turn using a “but before” rule. See page 14 for an example.

5. The two gossip mongers receive a successful gossip token and discard their played gossip cards.

6. The target of the gossip can “pay-off” the two gossip mongers with 3 gold each. If so, both gossip cards are discarded and no gossip tokens are awarded.

7. Gossip in Lords&Ladies use a “But Before” mechanic that allows you to confirm gossip after a player’s immediate action on their turn but not during the rest of the round.

For example: If a player had an unwed lord/lady and declares that they were going to marry an available suitor, a Forbidden Love gossip could be confirmed by two players playing that card on the suitor. This takes precedent over the players action during their turn.
If however the gossip was not confirmed during the player’s turn and they married off the lord/lady, the gossip can’t be confirmed at a later point in the round.
