Copenhagen

Seated on the coast of Zealand, Copenhagen, the picturesque capital of Denmark, is divided into neighborhoods by a crisscrossing of harbors and canals. One of the neighborhoods, "Nyhavn" (New Harbor), is famous for is colorful gabled houses perched along the waterfront. In Copenhagen, players are architects striving to build the most impressive new facades by purchasing different shaped tiles and piecing them into rows and columns.

Copenhagen is a mixture of a rummy style card collection game and tetris. On your turn, you will either take two adjacent cards from the card display, or use the cards you have collected to purchase facade tiles of different shapes and place them on your house. There are discounts for placing like colors together, and special abilities can be earned by covering certain spaces or rows. Players gain points by finishing rows and columns, and the first to 12 points wins the game. More gameplay info can be found below.

Components

We are offering two versions of Copenhagen, the Retail and Collector's Editions with cardboard, and the Deluxe box with Acrylic tiles. The cardboard tiles are very high quality 3mm cardboard. We know that may not mean much to you, so let us explain.  The standard thickness for cardboard components in board games is 2mm, partly because not every factory is able to produce thicker components due to the pressure needed to punch the cardboard. We print in some of the best factories in Europe, and because of how tactile the game is, we have upgraded the quality of the cardboard to the highest standard.

In addition, we have designed laser cut (3mm) double sided Acrylic tiles for the game that will be included in the Deluxe edition. These tiles have a very nice feel to them, but best of all, they have transparent windows. It is very difficult to communicate how great these tiles look in pictures, but we have done our best.

All games are language independent, and will include rulebooks German, English, French, Dutch, and Spanish. There is no need to select a language.

Stretch Goals (Collector's Edition and Deluxe Box Only)

Ability Tiles: Players are able to collect tiles during the game that give them special actions (see below for game play description). The retail version comes with 5 sets of tiles. We've included two more in the Collector's and Deluxe Editions, and there are stretch goals for even more. Each set of ability tiles comes with 4 tiles.

Mission Tiles: Missions give all players another way to earn points if they satisfy the condition of the mission for that game. We've included one in the base pledge, and there are stretch goals for more
