This is a variant of the turn order we (the authors) tested during development. It reduce the downtime for the first player in a 3-4 players game, but it's little less balanced than the turn order in the rules.
It's approved also by lookout so it's an "official" variant.
CLOCKWISE TURN ORDER VARIANT
COMPONENTS
-Remove the turn order of tiles.
-Take one of them (or any other object you like) as first player token.
SET UP
-The start player takes the first player token and start with 10 krones (as normal). The player on his left (second) starts with 11 krones, the third with 12 krones and the fourth with 13 krones.
GAME PLAY
-At the beginning of each round the player with the first player token roll and sort the dices (as usual) and perform his turn. Other turn are performed in clockwise order.(each player keeps the dices in front of him to remember the actions carried out).
NEW START PLAYER
-The player who passes first in a round takes the first player token. -If the player who passes first has already the first player token, he must give it to the player on his left.
-The turn continues clockwise until all players have passed. When this happens all players who haven't performed the two actions take their turn starting from the first player and go clockwise.
