Wolfkitten May 2020 Played: 5+ 3 player games 10+ 2 player games I know I can’t adequately describe how much I enjoy this game, so I’ll say this; Whenever game night rolls around and we ask each other “Hey whata ya wanna play tonight?” this game is always on my short list, always, like top three, ever single week. I love the story telling, I actually get invested in the characters (this doesn’t normally happen for me in most games) I love building my party, meandering around, fighting, buying land-chickens (I don’t care what they’re called, you’ll never convince me that they’re not land-chickens) for loafs of bread. This game has it all for me, it’s all the great Super Nintendo RPG’s I played as a young human spit onto paper and cardboard and dropped on my table. We’ve played campaign, co-op, and character mode. We haven’t even touched arcade, or some modules from Amber Mines yet, and I’m super excited to try them! I’d say that this is easily one of my favourite games ever made, across all genres, mediums and platforms. I’m kinda wondering why I’m not playing it right now.... Only minus for me is setup, even without the add-on content it takes up a lot of room on the table and a lot of time to setup, how do you solve this problem? Buy a bigger table and always leave the game setup! corneliusdamey I think it may be an understatement to say that this is easily my favorite game of 2017. The game consists of adventuring through a storybook, making tough choices, gaining treasures, crafting items from resources, hiring an outfit of explorers... It's everything you could want if you love storytelling and RPG games, but aren't particularly skilled at crafting narratives. Compared to other similar adventure games: More fun than: Above and Below Tales of the Arabian Knights About as fun as: Mage Knight: The Boardgame Not as fun as: Sleeping Gods maybe? Time will tell. Why I think this is a great game: Too many adventure games railroad you into set, static scenarios. This one lets you play the game and see what happens. There are various maps to give variety, linked, if you choose, through a fun campaign. The stories and different events are exciting and unique. The whole game feels unique and fresh. The game features cool characters and the setting is different from anything else. The atmosphere of the games just feels good while playing. Fantastic art design. This designer has an amazing thing going. Not many game makers are able to create a wholly unique art design and have it so recognizable. I’m a fan. Why some may not like this one: The town worker placement part of the game is pretty much the same as any of a zillion other worker placement games. However, it’s probably a good choice for this game.
