 BUILD

Build enough space stations to gather a crew of robots and astronauts before your

opponent can. Send UFO’s to hinder your opponents progress. The first commander to

have a full crew wins£¬ launching the Lunar Rocket.

Aim of the game

Be the first space commander to gather a fulI crew of robots and astronauts by building space stations£¬ allowing them to

launch the Lunar 1 Rocket and win the game.

Setting up the game

Before you start playing£¬ build the game using the LEGO® building instructions provided in the set. Building the game

teaches you more about the pieces and how you can use them. This makes it easier to rebuild your game or to change the

rules later.

Build the LEGO Dice using the coloured sides shown below

(This set includes a tool to help
you take tiles off the LEGO Dice)

Before each new game£¬ reset the game board to match

the image on the last page of the building instructions. Use the

stencil provided to make this quick and easy

Each player selects a colour and takes the 14 pieces that match that colour.

Place the remaining white pieces next to the game board

PLAY

Playing the game

The youngest player rolls the LEGO® Dice first and starts building a space station from one of the two starting

domes in the chosen colour

Which pieces a player can place is determined by the roll of the LEGO Dice and is described below

The ground rules of building

1. Make sure that you are always connected through other pieces back to one of your two starting domes

Place your coloured pieces and/or wall pieces on the game board so that they connect to one another.

Your opponent’s coloured piece interrupt the connection to your starting point.

2. Two pieces of the same type may not be placed in such a way that they connect. Note that

pieces which only touch diagonally are not connected.

If it’s your turn£¬ roll the LEGO Dice and decide to do one of the options shown on the Dice

Build a white wall

Place a wall piece on the game board

Bui|d a co|oured Piece - dome£¬ air|ock door£¬ antennae

Place one of your coloured pieces on the game board. The coloured pieces mark your degree of control over the

space station and are important for scoring points. Your colour piece must connect directly or through another

straight waII piece to one of your coloured domes, airlock doors or antenna. Note that a square wall piece without a

dome wiII aIso interrupt the succession of your coloured pieces.

Domes can only be placed on top of square wall pieces.

Antennae and airlock doors are built directly on the game board.

An entrance to an airlock door may not be blocked by coloured pieces or walls.

Spacewalk

Move any robot and/or astronaut of your choice a total of four spaces. You can decide how you split up the

movement. For example£¬move an astronaut three spaces and a robot one space. Robots and astronauts cannot

be moved diagonally. You may only space walk astronauts and robots through your own airlock doors

UFO

Move one UFO to a free movement space. A UFO can block a robot£¬ but not an astronaut

Players cannot build nor spacewalk with a robot or astronaut on spaces

blocked by a UFO (see figure)

Scoring points

Points are scored every time a space station is completely enclosed by connecting pieces. The player with the greater

number of coloured pieces (domes£¬ airlock doors and antennae) in the outer walls of the space station scores points as

follows: One point for each robot and two points for each astronaut inside the space station The player then takes the

robots and astronauts and places them onto his or her score section. The player also moves his or her space commander

the corresponding number of squares on the scoring track. If both players have the same number of coloured building

pieces in the outer wall£¬both players score half of the points (rounded down).

After a space station has been scored the player owning it can walk an astronaut or a robot

through a correct coloured airlock door on a later turn and immediately score additional

points with them

Winning the game

The first player to score 11 points and advance his or her space commander to the Lunar 1 Rocket

launches the rocket and wins. If all wall pieces or all of one player"s coloured pieces have been

played on the game board£¬but neither player has scored 11 points£¬then the game also ends and

the player with the higher score wins! If both players have the same score£¬ the player who has built

the most coloured pieces wins!

The LEGO tilt

The best way to pick
up your LEGO pieces
is by tilting them before
you pick them up.

YOUR GAME - YOUR RULES

The LEGO Dice gives you the freedom to change the game and make it your own. You can change the playing area£¬ the

pieces and even the rules. Every little change makes it more and more YOUR game

The secret to changing a game is to change only one thing at a time. That way, you can see if the change makes the game

more fun. If it does£¬ keep it and then try another change

Changing a game is always more fun when done together. That way everyone knows the rules and knows what is being

changed. Remember to make sure everyone is aware of any new rules BEFORE you start playing

Now that you know how to play the game using our rules£¬ try one of the following suggestions to change the game£¬and

then try to make a change of your own

1) Team play (for four players split into two teams)

Each player starts from his or her own corner. Each player on a team rolls the LEGO Dice and chooses an available

option. Then it is the other team’s turn.

Each team member starts from one of the two starting domes in their colour and can only build from his or her own

corner. Each player on a team rolls the LEGO Dice and chooses an available option. Then it is the other team’s turn

2) UFO abduction

When rolling grey£¬use the UFO to block the other player or abduct an astronaut. To abduct an astronaut place a UFO

on his head and lift him to any other grey movement space on the game board. For example£¬a space within the space

station which has already been scored and where you have most of the points. In that case you immediately score

points. The astronaut is placed on your score section. Then move your space commander two squares forward. Place

the UFO back on the game board where the astronaut previously stood. If an abducted astronaut has not been scored,

the UFO stays on his head until you or your opponent move the UFO again. Astronauts cannot be abducted once they

have been scored and placed on a player’s scoring track

3) Change the set up

Set up the game in another way: change the position of the starting corners or the position of the robots and astronauts

Or change the length of the game by increasing or decreasing the number of points needed to win.

Invent and share your own rules

Challenge yourself and see what new rules you can create. If they work£¬ upload them to games.LEGO.co.uk. You can also

check out what others have created and try playing the game using their house rules.

Go online!

games.LEGO.co.uk is packed with cool features. There is a short video showing you how to play the game£¬ and all of the

other exciting LEGO Games. You can also find more fantastic ways to Build£¬ Play and Change your games.
